This past weekend, Atlanta played host to the first ever Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. Midtown Atlanta was taken over by food folk from all over the South to celebrate regional cuisine as well as how our city is happily influenced by the flavors of the world. There were panel discussions, wine, beer and spirits shared, whole hog butchering demonstrations, truck food motor courts, chefs collaborating in fine dinners across the city and a series of tasting tents that offered small bites from restaurateurs and food purveyors of all sorts. The festival was an ambitious dream brought to successful execution by the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival staff and volunteers, a talented and smart chef’s advisory panel and of course all of the fine folks who presented their craft to the hungry masses.
In addition to the beautiful food they presented, they were happy to display the newly acquired trophy that the “Fatback Collective” won for placing 3rd in the Memphis in May Whole Hog BBQ Championship Competition. Jim ‘n Nick’s made up a core of the team along with dear friends and colleagues who are chefs and pitmasters from across the South.
Congratulations to the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival team and collaborators for putting on a great event and thanks for having us!
